Windward strait

The windward strait is a strait between the islands of Cuba and Haiti . The width is 77 km, the maximum depth is 1700 m. It connects the Atlantic Ocean with the Caribbean Sea and is a direct route between the Panama Canal and the eastern maritime border of the United States . In the southwestern part goes into the Jamaica Strait.
