Sir Cuthbert Montraville Sebastian ( born Cuthbert Montraville Sebastian ; October 22, 1921 - March 25, 2017 , Buster , St. Kitts and Nevis ) - Governor General of St. Kitts and Nevis from January 1, 1996 , succeeded Clement Errindell . Prior to that, he worked as the chief physician of St. Kitts and Nevis in 1980-1983. In early 2013, Sebastian Cartbert as Governor General of Saint Kitts and Nevis was succeeded by Edmund Lawrence .

Biography
Sebastian studied at Mount Allison University , New Brunswick , where he received his bachelor's degree. He enrolled at Dalhousie University in Halifax , Nova Scotia , where he studied medicine and graduated in MDCM in 1958 to become a surgeon.
He served in Saint Kitts, Nevis and Anguilla as a teacher, dispenser, chemist and pharmacist, laboratory assistant, senior dispenser, medical superintendent and obstetrician-gynecologist. From 1980 to 1983, he was the chief medical officer of St. Kitts and Nevis. From 1962 to 1966 he studied at the Royal Infirmary Dundee, Scotland, in obstetrics and gynecology. Sebastian served as a gunner during World War II in the Royal Canadian Air Force, captain (surgeon) in the defense forces of St. Kitts and Nevis , was the local doctor of his Royal Highness the Prince of Wales ( Prince Charles ) during his visit to St. Kitts in 1973 ( The Prince of Wales visited the island to open the recently restored Prince of Wales Bastion on June 1). In addition, he was an adjutant in the service of Prime Minister Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw.
Sebastian received the rank of (officer) (ED), and became an officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) (civil division) thanks to Queen Elizabeth II in 1969 . In 1996, he was awarded the Knight of the Great Cross of the most prominent Order of St. Michael and St. George and became the knight of the most venerable Order of St. John of Jerusalem (KStJ). In 1998, he received an honorary doctorate in law, and in 2005 received an honorary doctorate at Mount Ellison University . On July 5, 2002, he received an honorary scholarship from the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) of Edinburgh in Scotland for his outstanding career and service to humanity in the field of medicine.
On March 3, 2012, Sebastian greeted the Count and Countess of Wessex during their visit to Saint Kitts and Nevis as part of the diamond anniversary of Elizabeth II.
On January 1, 1996, he was appointed Governor General of Saint Kitts and Nevis.
On January 1, 2013, Sebastian resigned from the post of Governor General of Saint Kitts and Nevis . After the resignation, he delivered a speech.
Sir Cuthbert Sebastian died at his home on March 25, 2017 in Saint Kitts and Nevis at the age of 95.

From July 30, 2009, after the resignation of the President of Fiji , Josefa Iloila, and until January 1, 2013, that is, until his resignation from the post of Governor General, he was the oldest acting head of state on the planet.
