Gorodeya (station)

• On July 2, 1944, the Soviet army occupied the village and Gorodeya station.

In the fall, at the height of the harvest season, up to four thousand tons (about a hundred wagons) of beets per day are delivered to the sugar factory.

With the increase in traffic in the autumn-winter period due to the work of the sugar factory, a special specificity of the work of Gorodeya railway workers is also connected. The growing load on travel facilities in the cold and rainy autumn time requires maintaining the tracks in perfect condition. After all, pulp is returned from this enterprise to the address of the farms that supply the raw materials - beet processing waste. Juice flows from it and falls under the wagons. As a result, whole blocks of ice sometimes freeze between the railroad ties, around the rails, turnouts, which the trackers have to cut daily.

There is one more difficult feature in Gorodeya, which complicates the work, for example, station attendants. It is rarely possible to send wagons with raw materials for the sugar factory directly to the enterprise, whose access roads are often busy. The trains must first be put in front of the station, closing the passage for passengers. The station attendant needs to carefully plan the movement of cars with beets, their parking time, so as not to disrupt the movement along the main passage. Of course, at the same time, the arrows and the entire track economy should work flawlessly. Therefore, in Gorodeya always the most serious attention is paid to its preparation.
