Red Bridge (Vologda)

Red Bridge - a pedestrian bridge in the city of Vologda through the river of the same name . Connects Zosimovskaya and Dobrolyubova streets. Initially, a wooden bridge was built in 1918 - 1921 . In 1970 it was dismantled, after which a pedestrian reinforced concrete bridge was built at the same place in 1971 . ^[one]

Near the bridge from the Prechistenskaya embankment there is a monument to the centenary of the appearance of electric lighting in Vologda.

In the summer of 2010, to the 863th anniversary of Vologda, lighting was installed on the bridge piers.

  On May 11, 2018, a plate collapsed at the entrance of the bridge.  No one was hurt as a result of the incident.  Immediately after the accident, the place of failure was covered with wooden shields, and the entrance to the bridge was blocked by special signal tapes.
 On May 14, the Ministry of Internal Affairs established patrols at the entrance to the bridge to prevent people from access, as Vologda residents still try to cross the river along this path, despite the failure. 

The work, the main task of which is to ensure safe passage of Vologda residents on a pedestrian crossing, started in early July. For these purposes, 17 million rubles were allocated from the city budget. Under the contract, staircases were dismantled and re-concreted on the Red Bridge. The mayor of Vologda instructed to open traffic on the bridge by September 1, and this order was completed. However, questions remained on the finishing work. All shortcomings will be eliminated by the re-acceptance of work, which will take place on September 10. ^[2]
