Service History
The destroyer Akishimo was laid down at the Fujinagata shipyard [1] in Osaka . Launched on December 5, 1943 , entered service on March 11, 1944 . He participated in battles near the Mariana Islands and the Philippines. October 23-26, 1944 - Battle of Leyte Gulf. On October 23, the Akishimo crew rescued 769 people from the sunk cruiser Maya [2] . On the 24th he accompanied the torpedo bomber Mioko [3] The next day he received minor damage as a result of a collision with a wrecked Shimakadze [4] .
