After the championship with Anderlecht, Ari moved to the Belgian Standard from Liege . Two seasons during the stay of Ari in the "Standard", was the most successful in the history of the club. Standard won two championships in 1982 and 1983, a cup and two Belgian Super Cups. And in 1982, “Standard” reached the final of the Cup Cup, where he lost to “ Barcelona ”.

Returning to his native country in 1983, Ari ended his career by playing one season for PSV .

Ari was also a participant in the 1974 World Cup , in which his team reached the final, but lost to Germany 1-2.

Coaching career

Two months after retiring, Ari became a coach at Antwerp , but was replaced by Paul van Himst in the middle of the 1985/86 season. Returning to the previously played Anderlecht, Ari received a club with excellent players: experienced Frank Verkoteren and Morten Olsen (who completed their careers), and Jack Minaron , Luka Peruzovich , Erwin Vandenberg , Alex Chernyatinsky , Enzo Shifo and Georges Grun . In 1986, Anderlecht won the Belgian championship by winning a two-game standoff against Brugge . In the same season, the club reached the semifinals of the Champions Cup, but lost to Bayern Munich. The next season, the team repeated the success of last season, defending the title of the strongest team in Belgium.

After Belgium, on July 1, 1987, Ari Khan became the head coach of the German Stuttgart . In 1989, Stuttgart reached its first UEFA Cup European Cup final , but in two match-offs, the team lost to Napoli 1-2 and 3-3, in which Diego Maradona was playing at that time. Ari left Stuttgart on March 26, 1990 to become the coach of another German club, Nuremberg , in which Ari worked for just one season.

Returning to Belgium in 1991, Ari became a coach of the Liege Standard, with whom he won the 1993 Belgian Cup, and left the team in the middle of the 1993/94 season. In the 1995/1996 season, Ari Khan was introduced as the head coach of the Greek club PAOK , where he stayed until October 1996. After that, he returned to the Netherlands to become the Feyenoord coach, in his first season the team finished second in the Dutch championship. In total, Ari worked at the club for two seasons.

10 years later, in 1997, Ari Khan returned to Anderlecht, where he spent only nine months before returning to PAOK, where he remained as a coach until December 1999.

Becoming a coach of the Omonia club from Cyprus , Ari spent only two matches as a club mentor, as he was offered to head the Austrian Austria from Vienna . After working for six months, Ari asked to terminate the contract with him, his request was fulfilled by the club in August 2001. In December 2002, Ari led the national team of China , which he coached for the spirit of the years. In 2004, China hosted the final stage of the Asian Cup , in which the Chinese team led by Ari Khan reached the final, in which they lost to Japan with a score of 3-1. In November 2004, Khan resigned as head coach.

In February 2006, Ari became the Iranian Persepolis coach, with whom he reached the final of the Hazfi Cup . He was fired at the beginning of the 2006/07 season, due to problems with club management. In August 2007, he was appointed head coach of the Cameroon national team , but worked for only six months from a two-year contact, arguing that the President of the Cameroon Football Federation intervened in the management of the team.

In December 2007, he showed interest in a free coaching vacancy in the Irish national team , but a little later, President of the Albanian Football Federation Armando Dick announced that Ari Khan would replace Croatian specialist Otto Baric as head coach of the Albanian national team .
