Story

Pandora was born under the name Lydia in the Roman Republic , a few years before the birth of Christ , in the family of a senator . She has tall stature, wavy brown hair and golden-eyed eyes. Like many other Roman women patricians of the time, Pandora was taught writing and poetry, especially the works of Ovid . She meets Marius for the first time at the age of ten, while he was already twenty-five. Marius asks her father for her daughter ’s hand, but is refused. Five years later, Lydia again sees Marius at the festival and begs her father to let her marry him. Father again refuses.

A few years later, power was changing in Rome - the new emperor ascended the throne. The Pandora family is betrayed by her own brother. As a result, the whole family dies, with the exception of the traitor brother and Pandora. Her father’s close friend takes her to Antioch (after changing her name first). By chance, she again meets with Marius, twenty years after their last meeting. But Pandora does not know that Marius has already become a vampire.

In the end, she learns the truth about what Marius has become, as well as what he hides and protects the king and queen of vampires . For a while, Marius and Pandora keep the royal couple together. But then they are discovered by the vampire Akabar, who wants to get the mighty and ancient blood of Queen Akasha . Although Marius and Pandora manage to thwart Akabar's plans, he drinks almost all of Pandora’s blood in revenge. To save her, Marius had no choice but to make her a vampire. This couple stays together for another two centuries before arguing and breaking up. Later, Marius blames himself for this: he considers himself a teacher who wants to pass on everything that he knows to his students, but Pandora, being a free bird and educated, has no patience for lessons. During their stay together, Pandora against the will of Marius turned one of her slaves into a vampire. He immediately left them, and no one else saw him.

Next time, Marius and Pandora meet at a ball in Dresden in the second half of the 18th century . Marius unsuccessfully tries to convince Pandora to leave her companion Arjun and return to him, since he believes that Arjun is forcibly holding his girlfriend. Although Pandora outwardly denies this, in her journal she admits that she lacked the willpower to leave Arjun.

The next, and last, time, Marius and Pandora meet in 1985 , where they are two of the thirteen vampires who survived the Akasha genocide and gathered in the house of Maaret . For all the time, Pandora rarely speaks and constantly looks out the window.

Like many other vampires, Pandora is a sullen, desperate immortal who originally wanted immortality, but soon regretted her choice, turning into a dark, apathetic cynic. According to Lestat , Pandora had problems long before she became a vampire, as she is the only vampire who did not receive a vision of Maaret and Mekar. During the decisive moment in Sonoma , when Akasha directly gives Pandora a choice (to join her or die), Pandora only quietly replies that she cannot do what Akasha demands and stoically accepts the idea of her death.

Even after the destruction of Akasha, Pandora still remains alienated from the rest of the vampires, constantly watching music videos and completely ignoring Marius, who lovingly cares for her. Unlike other surviving vampires, Pandora has no sense of recovery and security, and she leaves Arman Night Island alone.

Shortly after the events of the novel Memnoch the Devil and before the events of the book The Vampire Arman , David Talbot meets Pandora. He asks her to write the story of her life in a cafe in the notebooks that he gave her. Having described the autobiography , Pandora writes that she plans to look for Marius in New Orleans , as well as to look in the eyes of Lestat and try to understand what he saw.

Queen of the Damned

In the movie Queen of the Damned , Pandora was played by actress Claudia Black . Unlike the book , in the film, Pandora dies during the battle with Akasha.
