Makigumo is a Japanese destroyer of the Yugumo type . The name is translated from Japanese as “Light Cirrus Clouds” .

Laid down in 1940 at the Fujinagasta Shipyard, Osaka. Launched on November 5, 1941 , entered service on March 14, 1942 . He participated in the battles for Guadalcanal and in the battle of Santa Cruz. February 1, 1943 he died in mines off the island of Savo at
