The name of the Outback model (lit. "wilderness") comes from the name of a remote and arid area in Australia . Subaru Outback cars, like other models of the Subaru brand, participated and won in many international competitions .

Legacy Outback BG
At the end of 1996, an off-road version of Legacy was proposed, which was named in the first version of Legacy Outback.
Outback BH
The second generation Outback was introduced at the end of 1999 as an independent model, without the Legacy prefix. It was produced in station wagon , sedan and pickup ( Subaru Baja model for the American market). Opposite 4-cylinder engines with a volume of 2.0 (135 hp) and 2.5 liters (156 hp) were installed, as well as a six-cylinder engine with a volume of 3.0 liters (209 hp).

In the fall of 2003, the new Outback was introduced, which was based on the fourth Legacy series.

Diesel

2008 model 2.5i for the US market was certified in the PZEV emission category, all other models are certified in LEV2 . Model PZEV Outback is sold in any state of the United States, unlike other manufacturers that offer such cars only in the states that have adopted the California certification.
