The St. Petersburg Maritime Bureau of Mechanical Engineering "Malachite" named after Academician N. N. Isanin (SPMBM Malakhit JSC) is one of the leading design bureaus in St. Petersburg , founded in 1948. The SPMBM Malachit JSC was formed as a result of the merger SKB-143 and TsPB Volna (TsKB-16) in 1974. The Bureau specializes in developing submarine projects.

The company was reorganized in 1998 from the SPBMB “Malachite” into the State Unitary Enterprise SPMBM “Malachite”. In 2001, it was reorganized from the State Unitary Enterprise SPMBM Malakhit into the Federal State Unitary Enterprise SPMBM Malakhit, and in 2008 into the OJSC SPMBM Malakhit. The sole shareholder is the state United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) .

100 submarine projects were developed, according to which 300 submarines were built, of which 94 were nuclear. [one]
