Hilti

In 1941, a mechanical workshop “Hilti Maschinenbau oHG” was opened in Shan , which was founded by brothers Martin (1915–1997) and Eugen Hilti (1911–1964). Initially, the site, where at the time of its foundation 5 people worked, was conceived as a workshop for the production of parts for automobile engines, lighters and household electrical appliances. In 1941, Martin Hilti voluntarily joined the SS Troops , and the company, in turn, was a supplier of critical parts for the Wehrmacht (Maybach Motorenbau GmbH and Robert Bosch GmbH), such as engine parts for armored vehicles, fuses for shells. With the collapse of the Third Reich, the company was in a difficult financial situation until 1950, when the company changed its profile and began to produce high-speed fastening tools based on its own developments.

• 1941 - engineer Martin Hilti and his brother Eugen founded a mechanical workshop for the repair of electrical engineering
• 1948 - a patent was obtained for direct mounting technology, after which the development of a fastening system based on powder technology began
• 1950 - the production of hand tools and assembly guns began on the basis of the patent
• 1952 - the first international contract was concluded, the result of which was the opening of the first foreign representative office in Italy
• 1954 - The construction of a production plant in Shan began.
• 1957 - Hilti creates the DX 100, the world's first powder-mounted gun.
• 1962 - Hilti is present in 30 countries
• 1964 - Hilti Technical Center opened in Shan
• 1967 - the mass production of the first hand-held rotary hammer with the electro-pneumatic principle of the Hilti TE 17 impact mechanism began. At the same time, development of the first mechanical anchor systems began. Hilti starts direct sales
• 1970 - the first foreign production plant in Thuringen in Austria was opened
• 1973 - the development of anchor systems, as well as drilling and installation solutions, began at one of the German factories

• 1982 - mass production of diamond cutting and boring machines began
• 1986 - Hilti was transformed into a joint stock company, and also entered the market of construction chemicals
• 1990 - Michael Hilti replaced his father as CEO
• 1993 - the company opened a division in Russia
• 1998 - mass production of woodworking equipment began
• 2003 - Hilti receives the Carl Bertelsman Award for Outstanding Corporate Culture
