Career
Initially, like most skaters, Roman was engaged in single skating . The first coach of the novel was still in Minsk Vladimir Klochok, the first choreographer was Vladimir Chernyshev. Roman was the champion and medalist of the Israeli championships in his age groups. When Roman became interested in dancing in 1995, his parents paired his son with his younger sister Alexandra. Since then, they ride together. Until 2001, the skaters trained under the guidance of the parents of Elena and Igor.
In 2001-2003, the couple trained with Irina Romanova and Igor Yaroshenko in Wilmington ( Delaware ). In 2003, they were forced to return to Israel, as Roman was called up for active duty in the IDF . In Israel, they continued to train with their mother, Elena. In January 2005, they transferred to Evgeny Platov . In the summer of 2006, they came to train in Moscow , because Platov participated in the project of the RTR channel "Dancing on Ice". The next trainer of the couple, in 2008 , was Nikolai Morozov , but in his group, Halit Haight mainly worked with them. When Galit decided to work independently, the Zaretsky left with her.
Zaretsky - the first Israeli athletes to win medals of the International Olympic Committee in winter sports (European Olympic Youth Festival in Bled , Slovenia ), medals of all virtues at the stages of the Junior Grand Prix , reaching the finals of the Junior Grand Prix. In 2006, the Zaretsky competed at their first Olympics in Turin , taking the 22nd place, and in 2008 entered the European and World Top Ten for the first time (TOP-10). In 2009, Zaretsky became champions of the Winter Universiade , bringing the Israeli team the first gold in the history of the participation of Israeli athletes in the Universiades (summer and winter).
At the 2009 World Cup, they won one ticket to Israel for dancing on ice at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver .
In 2010, at the European Championships in Tallinn, they took 7th place, at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver , Zaretsky entered the Olympic top ten, taking 10th place, and at the World Championships in Turin (Italy) took 6th place, setting personal records in free dance and the total points.
At the end of the 2009-2010 season, the Zaretsky completed a sports career. The main reason for leaving after the most successful season of their career (3rd place at Skate America, 7th at the European Championships and 6th at the World Championships) was the conflict with the National Figure Skating Federation. Today, Roman and Alexandra are engaged in coaching [1] .
