Taz ( nen. Tasu'yava ) - a river in Russia , flows in Western Siberia , along the territory of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug . The length of the river is 1401 km, its catchment area is 150,000 km², the average annual flow rate of 357 km from the mouth is 930 m³ / s [2] [3] .

Geography
It originates in Siberian Uvaly . The height of the source is 139 m above sea level. It flows into the Taz Bay of the Kara Sea with several arms. It flows among marshes along the northeastern part of the West Siberian Plain . The valley is wide, the channel strongly meanders and branches out into numerous branches, at the mouth there is a shallow bar . Car winters from Igarka and Norilsk to Novy Urengoy pass across the river.
Hydrology
Food mainly snow (54%) with a large share of unpaved (27%). High water in the upper reaches from the end of April to September, in the lower reaches - from the end of May to September. The range of level fluctuations in the upper and middle reaches is about 6 m, in the lower reaches - about 3 m. In the estuary section (up to 200 km), surging-level fluctuations with a rise of up to 2 m. The average annual water discharge is 357 km from the mouth - 930 m³ / s (at the mouth - about 1450 m³ / s), the largest - 6630 m³ / s, the smallest - 157 m³ / s. Stock in spring - 60%, in summer and autumn - 21%, in winter - 19%. The most watery month is June (about 40% of the annual runoff). It freezes in October, opens in late May - early June.

Economic Use
The river is navigable downstream. The 798-km section from the village of Tolka to the mouth is included in the list of waterways of the Russian Federation [3] .
