Geography
The area is 4666 km². The Department is washed on three sides by the waters of the Mediterranean Sea , in the southwest it borders on the Department of South Corsica . On the territory of the department is the highest peak of Corsica, Mount Chinto .
History
From 1793 to 1811 , the Golo department was located in what is now Upper Corsica. Then, a single department of Corsica was formed on the island of Corsica. September 15, 1975 the island was divided into two departments.
