Division History
Formed in March 1941 in the Oryol Military District .
In the army from June 1941 to July 1941.
The divisionβs management was stationed in Bryansk before the war. With the outbreak of hostilities, the formation was subordinated to the 24th Army , but as of July 1, 1941, it was reassigned to the 19th Army. At the same time, most parts of the division remained in the states of peacetime, but as of materiel they did not reach them. So, for example, the full-time need for vehicles as of 03.07.1941 was 80%. For these reasons, the 51st Panzer Division remained understaffed in the Rzhev region with the exception of the 102nd Panzer Regiment, which was sent to Vitebsk by the command of the 23rd mechanized corps , where on July 10, 1941, it participated in unsuccessful attempts to drive the enemy off of the bridgehead in the eastern parts of the city along with the 220th motorized rifle division .
She took part in the preparation of defensive lines (Selizharovo, Olenino, Vasilyevo).
At the beginning of July 1941 it was transformed into the 110th Panzer Division and transferred to the 31st Army .
