Division History

Formed in March 1941 in the Odessa Military District on the basis of the 23rd light tank brigade as part of the 18th mechanized corps . It was stationed in Ackerman . In the army from June 22 to October 7, 1941 .

By June 29, 1941 transferred to the Vinnitsa region. At that time, there were no tanks in its composition at all. In mid-July, she entered the battle; by the end of July she was surrounded in the Tulchin area. On July 28, 1941, she left the encirclement, having lost the materiel. By early August, defended the line on the Sinyukha River (Golovanevskaya - Alshany - Lysaya Gora). 08/03/1941 withdrew by order, but fought another 04 and 05/08/1941, pulling the enemy units. 08/12/1941 units of the division were withdrawn to the rear for reformation and replenishment, and later concentrated in the Poltava region. By August 31, 1941, it occupied the defense of the Dnieper in the Kremenchug area.

After a series of defensive and counter-offensive actions, during September 1941, 09/30/1941 the division was withdrawn to the rear, where it was disbanded. The 47th motorized rifle regiment was transferred to the 199th rifle division , the materiel was assigned to the 71st separate tank battalion , and the 142nd tank brigade was formed on the basis of the remnants.
