The street was formed in the process of radical restructuring of Lipetsk in the 1st half of the XIX century with the implementation of the master plan of the city, approved in 1805 . The former name is Ugolnaya Street . In the 18th century , coal was mined in the area for metallurgical plants. In Soviet times, the street received its current name according to the proletariat.
The street construction is typical, mainly panel.
On the corner with Lenin Street is the Lipetsk Regional Museum of Local Lore (25 Lenin St.). In Soviet times, the House of Political Education of the CPSU Regional Committee was located here.
Opposite the museum (Lenin St., 23) is the Comfort Hotel. In the same building are numerous enterprises and organizations.
