He was the captain of KAMAZ . As a player, he became the champion of Moldova as part of Zimbru (2000) and made it to the third qualifying round of the Champions League 1999/00 season with this club.

He began his coaching career as an assistant coach at the Moldavian clubs Hincesti and Zimbru.

From August 2004 to June 2007 he headed the youth national team of Moldova , which was close to reaching the final of the European Youth Championship . The most successful games are draws with England (2: 2), Scotland (0: 0), victory over Georgia (5: 1). A number of players of the youth team under his leadership later began to play for the main team of the country : Alexander Epuryanu , Vitaly Bordiyan , Alexander Gatskan , Igor Bugaev , Nikolai Zhosan .
