The coat of arms of Chad was adopted in 1970. In the center is a shield with wavy blue lines, with the rising sun above it. The shield is supported by a goat and a lion. Below the shield are a medallion and a scroll with a national motto (“Unity, Labor, Progress”) in French.

The wavy lines on the shield are a symbol of Lake Chad , the rising sun symbolizes a new beginning. The goat on the left represents the northern part of the nation, while the southern part is represented by the lion. At the base of the shield is the National Order of Chad.
There is also the Chad emblem, a seal formed with a tribal girl, presented in black and white.
