Johan Petter Johansson

Johan Petter Johansson [1] ( Swede. Johan Petter Johansson ; December 12, 1853 , flax Västra-Götaland - August 25, 1943 , Enköping ) - Swedish inventor, industrialist. In 1892, he modified the adjustable wrench , adding a worm to the structure, after which such a wrench was called "Swedish" for a long time. Received more than 100 patents.

Born near the city of Vorgord in western Sweden, he was the oldest child among 6 children in a peasant family. He began working as an assistant operator of a steam engine of a peat factory. He left Worgorda in 1873 at the age of 19, became a laborer in Mutala , entered the military service in 1874, then moved to Eskilstuna , where he worked at the Munktella plant. In 1878 he moved to Vasteras , where he first worked in a mechanical workshop, and then as a blacksmith on a farm in the suburbs.

At this time, Johansson decided to leave for the United States , but, having received a good job offer from his former employer from the Munktell plant, he changed his mind.

Having decided to start his own business, he moved to Enköping , where he founded the Enköpings Mekaniska Verkstad Mechanical Workshop, which was a success. Working in the workshop, Johansson invented the pipe wrench and pipe wrench . In 1890, BA Hjort & Company agreed to distribute Johansson tools under the Bahco brand name. The sales of tools were successful, the company still exists and has already produced more than 100 million keys.

In 1916, Johansson transferred his enterprise to his son and the company BA Hjort & Company, began to engage in experiments with electrical mechanisms, and in 1919 founded the new Triplex enterprise, which manufactures electric pendulums and other devices.

Johansson died at the age of 89.
