Original text (ar.)
حَافِظُوا عَلَى الصَّلَوَاتِ وَالصَّلَاةِ الْوُسْطَىٰ وَقُومُوا لِلَّهِ قَانِتِينَ
In the name and first ayah of the 103rd sura of the Quran, the time of this prayer is mentioned [1] .
Asr time
The term during which the Asr should be completed:
- Start times vary slightly between law schools . The Hanafi madhhab is dominated by the proposition that the time of the Asr prayer begins when the length of the object’s shadow is twice the height of the object. According to the Shafiite , Malikite and Hanbalith madhhabs, the time of the Asr prayer begins when the shadow of the object reaches the height of this object [2] .
- Asr prayer time ends before the evening maghrib prayer, when the sun has set below the horizon. Nevertheless, it is considered undesirable (and sinful in the Malikite madhhab) to delay the prayer for no good reason until the sun turns pale red or orange at the end of the day, although the time of prayer will be considered not yet expired.
