Walker, Reggie

Reginald Edgar "Reggie" Walker ( English Reginald Edgar "Reggie" Walker ; March 16, 1889 , Durban - November 5, 1951 , Durban ) - South African athlete , champion of the Summer Olympics of 1908 at a distance of 100 meters. The only Olympic champion in history at 100 meters from South Africa.

At the 1908 Games in London, Walker participated only in a 100m race. He won all the preliminary rounds and repeated the Olympic record in the final. Also, he became the youngest Olympic champion at this distance (19 years and 128 days).

In 1910 he became a professional and could not take part in the 1912 Summer Games. He fought in the infantry on the fronts of the First World War, was wounded.
