Jonsson, Christopher

Johnson was born in 1972 in a suburb of Stockholm . Since childhood, he was a fan of rock music, from The Beatles to Metallica .

In 1987, he founded the band Blitzkrieg, who played death metal with a thrash metal slant. At first, the group stood out a little among similar projects of that time. In 1988, the first part collapsed. The new one was named Megatherion, after the song and album of the Celtic Frost group. Subsequently, the name was reduced to Therion. Christopher was the author of all the music and, at first, all the lyrics of the group, as well as the vocalist. On the early albums, Johnsen played the bass part, and later switched to solo guitar. Gradually evolving to death doom metal, Therion increasingly used symphonic arrangements and female vocals. Theli album is considered a turning point in the history of the group and the first ever album in the genre of symphonic metal .

Christopher was a member of the Carbonized and Demonoid groups. The first one was founded by Lars Rosenberg (ex-bassist Entombed and Therion ), and the last one was created by his colleagues in Therion brothers Niemann. In 2006, Johnsen announced his retirement from this group, as he does not intend to sing anymore. In 2008, a rift with the Niemannas led to their departure from Therion ^[1] .

On June 26, 1992, a fan of the Burzum group tried to set fire to Christopher’s apartment. The inscription “The Count was here and will be back” was cut out with a knife on the apartment door, and a record was found in the girl’s diary that the arson allegedly instructed her to perform Vikernes. Varg was interrogated as a suspect in the incitement, but stated that he was not familiar with the defendant, and was released. 18-year-old Suuvi Mariotta Puurunen, the arson’s immediate perpetrator, was sent for compulsory psychiatric treatment . ^{[2] [3]}

At a concert in Moscow in 2006 in the B1 club - the HammerFest festival, where Catharsis , Pain , Therion and Blind Guardian were supposed to perform - Christopher had an altercation with Blind Guardian leader Hansi Kursh . Due to the negligence of the organizers, uncleared cars from the car dealership that was held the day before the concert turned up on the stage. They were disguised by a curtain, but the scene area was drastically reduced. Then, after the sound check, Blind Guardian stated that they would not remove the drum set from the stage, as its transfer would require additional configuration. This jeopardized the performance of the other three groups, since the Blind Guardian as headliners were to be the last to perform, and especially Therion, as the group was supposed to present a stage show with sets for which there was no room left for Moscow. After a long debate between Johnsen and Kursh, the latter refused to remove the installation. Therion members agreed to perform anyway, but the concert was greatly reduced and postponed until later, and Catharsis’s performance was completely canceled. In an open letter, Christopher placed all responsibility for the unsuccessful concert on the organizers and personally on Hansi Kursh ^[5] .

Christopher Johnson is a member of the mystical society Order of the Red Dragon . His friend Thomas Carlson is the leader of this society and the poet who writes Therion texts on the mythology of the peoples of the world and the mystical teachings of antiquity.

Meets Mina Karadich (born 1989) as a photographer and participant in the side project of Christopher Luciferian Light Orchestra (her voice sounds in several songs, and also she can be seen in the clips of this group). Mina hails from Montenegro, they met in 2010 in Belgrade at the concert of Therion, where she was present as a journalist and photographer. Currently moved to Sweden ^{[6] [7] [8]} .

Christopher has a son, born in 2003 ^{[9] [10]} .
