History
In the first years after its creation (from 1960 to 1963), the magazine was a tribune of the movement of the “ New Novel ” ( Alain Rob-Grillet , Natalie Sarrot ). However, in 1963, the editors refused to support this trend, as not sufficiently radical, and formulated their program, which consists in the search for a new revolutionary language. The very name of the journal (“As It Is”) reflected one of the key points of the theoretical program of its editorial staff - the reduction of the distance between the signifier and the signified .
In 1971, the magazine broke with the French Communist Party and proclaimed adherence to Maoism . In 1974, members of the editorial board, including Sollers, Bart, and Kristeva, visited the PRC . However, in 1976, the magazine distanced itself from the course of the Chinese government.
In 1982, Tel Kael was closed by Philippe Sollers, who in 1983 founded the new Infini magazine ( Fr. L'infini ) instead.
