Boundary line - (return) - a point whose position is designed so that if it leaves the alternate aerodrome, the amount of fuel on board the aircraft by the estimated time of arrival at the alternate aerodrome is sufficient for safe maneuvering and landing .
In the event of adverse weather conditions in the area of the destination aerodrome or the inability to receive an aircraft at this aerodrome for technical reasons, the aircraft commander must decide to leave for the alternate aerodrome at the departure line. This provides an adequate supply of fuel for maneuvering when landing at the alternate aerodrome.
According to the requirements of the Federal Aviation Administration [1] , the line of departure is determined so that by the estimated time of arrival at the alternate aerodrome, the amount of fuel on board the aircraft remains for at least 30 minutes of flight at an altitude of 450 m above the runway .
