From the novel by Mikhail Sholokhov " Quiet Don ":
| ... The Red Army soldier is a Cossack of the Tepekinskaya village, a white-haired robe, a narrow chest, with shreds of a red bow on the overcoat lapel. Answers questions, but smiles tightly and somehow casually. - What regiments were in battle yesterday? - pry out Gregory. |
Pages from the travel book of Commissioner I. Ya. Vrachev [1] .
| ... Communication with the 2nd brigade is established. I left Sergeyevka to the location of the 7th cavalry regiment. On the way, I stopped in Lykovo, where the 350th regiment stands, which made a generally good impression. Here, in the Sagunas, he was warmly welcomed by the regiment commander Domnich. I knew him before, according to Voronezh, when he, being the commander of the so-called “2nd Guards of the Soviet Cavalry Regiment”, fell under the influence of anarchists, organized a small rebellion, and the 13th Voronezh division, where he commanded the cavalry (the same most) regiment. For a long time I listened to Domnich's stories about my regiment. He told me in detail his whole story. How many glorious, truly valiant deeds this regiment and its commander had. Domnich literally reborn and became a good commander. From his former partisanism there was almost no trace left. This made me very happy, because at one time (in the difficult period of the retreats of 1918, I literally pulled it out of the hands of the tribunal). I decided to introduce Domnich to the "Order of the Red Banner" ... Again I have to regret that I do not have time. It should be a lot, and even better to record everything that I heard from Domnich. |
