George IX ( 1486 - 1534 ) - King of Kartli ( 1525 - 1534 ). The son of Tsar Constantine II. The 81st king of Georgia from the Bagration dynasty.

He ascended the throne after leaving the monks of his brother - King David X.
Tsar George became close with the king of Kakheti Levan and with the king of Imereti Bagrat .
Soon, catalycosis Dorafeosis died, with the new cataliasis George put his brother Melchizedek.
A little later, an ambassador from Sultan Suleiman arrived to the Georgian kings and persuaded them to free Jerusalem from the infidels. That soon the combined army of the three kings of Georgia committed. For this, the Sultan Suleiman sent great gifts and gave them the holy places of Jerusalem (Tomb of Christ, Calvary, Bethlehem and the monastery of the Cross).
George tried to protect the country from the raids of the Tatars. He fought with the Tatars several times.
All his reign George lived in peace with other Georgian kings and atabags.
As a result of the dynastic struggle in 1527 (or, according to other sources, in 1534 ), he was forced to cut his hair as a monk and cede the throne to his nephew Luarsab I.
George did not have sons.
