Biography
Ivan Ivanovich Zinoviev was born in 1919 in the village of Malaya Yakshenka, now in the Buturlinsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod region . He graduated from elementary school in the village of Sormovsky peat enterprise, seven years - in Sormovo . Here he studied at the courses of turners. He worked at the Krasnoe Sormovo plant in the rebar workshop. At the same time he was engaged in parachuting in the flying club. Since March 1940 he studied at the aviation school.
During the Great Patriotic War, from September 1942, Zinoviev made 102 sorties on attack aircraft, traveling from the Don to Berlin . He participated in the operations to liberate Donbass , Kharkov , Dnepropetrovsk , Zaporozhye, and rendered great assistance to ground troops in crossing the Dnieper and expanding the bridgehead on its right bank. 27 times Zinoviev was the leader of the attack group. He made 13 combat sorties by a leading pair of hunters, acting behind enemy lines, destroyed 6 steam locomotives, up to 30 wagons, and blew up 2 gas tanks. In 46 sorties, in collaboration with ground forces, 19 anti-aircraft guns, 26 PA guns, 4 fuel depots, 3 railway trains, 3 steam locomotives, 14 tanks and 18 vehicles and 76 wagons were destroyed. On August 19, 1943, a group of 12 IL-2 under the command of Zinoviev south of the town of Izyum destroyed: 5 tanks, 2 self-propelled guns.
During the period from July to December 1943, the captain Zinoviev took an active part in 8 air battles conducted by IL-2 groups. In these battles 3 ME-109 and FV-190 were shot down.
The war ended with the squadron commander, guard captain. At the front he became a communist (February 1943 ). Dozens of aircraft and tanks and up to 800 enemy soldiers were destroyed by machine gun fire and bombs. He shot down 5 enemy planes in air battles.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 27, 1945, Ivan Ivanovich Zinoviev was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union .
After the war, I.I. Zinoviev served in aviation. In January 1947 he graduated from the Krasnodar Higher Navigation Officer School. 2nd class military pilot. Since 1959, Colonel Zinoviev is in stock.
After retiring, he lived in Pavlograd, Dnipropetrovsk region, worked at the Himmash plant. Pensioner of the Ministry of Defense.
