Most phipas adhere to traditional beliefs, but there are also Christians .
Traditional Activities
Tropical shift agriculture (millet, cassava, peanuts, legumes, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, corn, bananas). The traditional craft is wood carving. A variety of musical instruments (strings, winds, xylophones, drums, etc.) Men work on plantations of coffee and bananas.
Social Structure
Patrilateral patrimonial groups, chiefdom. Families are small, patrilocal.
Housing and life
The settlements are scattered. The dwelling is round, made of sticks coated with clay, the roof is in the form of a cone. Food - stew, cereals from millet and sorghum, flat cakes. In the lakeside areas they consume fish.
