History
In 1950, the Wenjiang Special District (区 区 区区) was formed, which included 12 counties. In 1952, the Mianyang Special District (区 绵阳 区,) was formed, in which there were 10 counties. In 1953, the districts of Guanghan, Jintan and Shifang were transferred from the special district of Mianyang to the special district of Wenjiang. In 1958, the Suining Special District (区 区 区 рас) was disbanded, and the Zhongjiang county that was previously part of it was transferred to the Special District of Mianyang. In 1968, the Wenjiang Special District was renamed Wenjiang County (温江 地区), and in 1970, the Special District of Mianyang was renamed Mianyang District (绵阳). On March 3, 1983, Wenjiang County was disbanded, and Shifang and Guanhan counties came under Chengdu jurisdiction.
On August 18, 1983, by a resolution of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, the Deyang city district was formed, to which Deyang counties (transformed into the Central District), Zhongjiang and Mianzhu from Mianyang district, and Guanhan and Xifang counties from Wenjiang district were transferred.
In 1988, Guanghan County was transformed into a city county. In 1996, Shifang and Mianzhu counties were transformed into city counties, and the Central District was divided into the Jingyang District and Lojiang County.
In August 2017, Lojiang County was transformed into the area of urban subordination.
