Biography
Mikhail Anikushin was born on September 19 ( October 2 ), 1917 in Moscow, in a working class family.
He studied at the I.E. Repin LINAS from 1937 to 1947 with a break for the war years ( 1941 - 1945 ):
- 1935 - 1936 - with V. S. Bogatyrev in preparatory classes at the All-Russian Academy of Arts.
- 1936 - 1937 - studied at the Secondary School under V.A. Kh. , With G.A. Schulz .
- 1937 - 1941 and 1945 - 1947 - with V. A. Sinaisky and A. T. Matveev at the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture.
From the very beginning of World War II, he joined the militia; since November 1941, he fought in the ranks of the Red Army .
One of the sculptor's most famous works is a monument to A.S. Pushkin , erected in Leningrad in 1957 .
Anikushin is a representative of a classical, traditionalist school, the author of a number of famous images of A. S. Pushkin .
Full member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR ( 1962 ). Member of the Central Audit Commission of the CPSU (1966-1976).
M.K. Anikushin died on May 18, 1997 in St. Petersburg. He was buried in the literary bridges necropolis of the Volkovsky cemetery .

- Wife - Maria Timofeevna Litovchenko (1917-2003) - sculptor, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts , people's artist of the Russian Federation .
Memory
- On October 2, 2007 , a memorial plaque was installed on the house where Anikushin lived ( Pesochnaya embankment , building 16).
- The name of the sculptor is Anikushinsky Square on Kamennoostrovsky Prospekt - in this square his sculptural composition "Friendship" ("Dancing Girls") is installed - and Anikushinsky Alley , running from this square to Vyazemsky Lane , where he worked [3] [4] [5] .
- The name of the sculptor also bears the art school of the city of Kronstadt .
- The name of the sculptor is the small planet No. 3358 [6] .
- In Vyazemsky Lane in front of the workshop building on September 12, 2013 a monument was erected by Nikolai Kraukhin.
