The case is made of stainless steel , and the protective glass of the screen is made of scratch-resistant tempered glass. The moving part is the screen and keyboard , which when closed is in a steel "glass". The slider mechanism is equipped with a closer, which allows you to "shoot" the moving part with a slight shift of the central stop.
Among the known shortcomings of the device can be called a weak regular battery BL-5X. As a rule, the solution is to use a battery from Nokia 8800 Sirocco (BP-6X 700 mAh ) or a third-party high-capacity battery.
The model is presented in three colors (shade of steel): silver, black, metal gun (special edition).

Nokia 8801
Nokia 8801 is an option for the North American market that uses the frequencies 850/1800/1900 MHz widespread there instead of the European 900/1800/1900 MHz. The difference in the thickness of the device, due to the middle part and the thick battery cover.
Sirocco Edition
Nokia 8800 Sirocco Edition (8800d) - a modification released in 2006. Stainless steel case, two color options - dark (or queen black , black polished) - and light (chrome). Other differences from the base model: the internal memory is increased to 128 MB, the chassis design is slightly modified to accommodate a more capacious battery (BP-6X, 700 mAh), a camera with a resolution of 2 megapixels, slight differences in the keyboard layout. Ringtones specially for this model were composed by composer Brian Eno .
In early 2007, the 8800 Sirocco Gold version was also released, the casing of which is coated with 24 micron gold.
Arte Edition
Nokia 8800 Arte Edition (8800e) has 1 GB of internal memory, a camera with a resolution of 3.15 megapixels and a screen with organic LEDs .
Available in five versions:
Nokia 8800 Sapphire Arte (Black) - a black case made of leather and stainless steel, an artificial sapphire as a navigation button;
Nokia 8800 Arte - black stainless steel case;
Nokia 8800 Sapphire Arte - brown case made of leather and stainless steel, artificial sapphire as a navigation button;
Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte - stainless steel, carbon fiber and titanium case, 4 GB of internal memory;
Nokia 8800 Gold Arte - the case is covered with 18 microns thick gold, white leather inserts, 4 GB of internal memory.
