Pavel Banya ( Bulgarian. Pavel Banya ) is a city in Bulgaria . It is located in the Starozagorsky region , not far from Kazanlak (20-25 km), near the Koprinka reservoir. - National Park "Central Balkan" Central Balkan is one of three national parks in the Republic of Bulgaria. It is located in the Central Balkan Mountains. Altitude ranges between 500 and 2376 m. - The lowest point is not far from Karlovo (city) , and the highest is Botev (mountain) - the highest peak of Stara Planina. There are nine nature reserves on the territory of the national park, located on the territory of more than 20,000 hectares. These are the reserves: “Boatin”, “Tsarichina”, “Kozha wall”, “Steneto”, “Severen Jendem”, “Singing rocks”, “Falcon”, “Jendem” and “Stara river”. The reserve area covers an area of 20,019.6 hectares. Eight of them are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List . In 2003 , Central Balkan National Park was admitted to the PAN Parks network, receiving high praise for the well-preserved nature and care for it. Since 2004 , the park has been awarded the PAN Parks certificate.
The park has almost 2340 plant species and subspecies. Among them 1900 species and subspecies of higher plants and 15 species of ferns. Represented 166 species of medicinal plants. [2]
Regular Events
- Carnival of mukers (mummers) on the first Sunday before Lent. In the city of Pavel Banya, this holiday is held in Cheese Week and local residents call it “Carnival”, and mummers (kekurs) are called “old people”. Centuries at the end of winter mummers expected and met with great interest. With the help of these rituals, a person in the past tried to magically influence nature, believing that the higher the cookies jump, the higher the crops will grow, the further the ringing of copper bells can be heard, the further evil spirits and diseases will be driven out. Each "old man" checks and tightens the mask and bells, a wooden sword called a "little fist", multi-colored scarves that are tied on the hands and mask. During the “Carnival”, additional characters join the group of old people, such as “bride”, “groom”, “husband’s brother”, “gypsy” who wears crochetly, “gypsy” who carries a child made of rags - according to popular belief It has magical powers for health and fertility. - Rose and Mineral Water Festival - In 2005, the tradition was revived and the Rose and Mineral Water Festival was organized - a unique combination of ancient tradition and modernity. Held in the second week of June and attracts many tourists from the country and abroad. At the international folklore festival, traditions and folklore heritage of different peoples are found, and each village community is given the opportunity to present its unique lifestyle and culture, preserved for centuries to the present day. Then, through the streets, there is a parade of all participants of the festival and the mummers in the community. There is a tradition at the rose festival to choose the Queen of the Rose and the King of Mineral Water, which are present at all events during the festival. The rituals “Harvesting roses” and “Production of rose oil” are shown using traditional and modern methods. [5] [6]
