Gorna-Oryakhovitsa ( Bulgarian. Gorna Oryahovitsa ) is a city in Bulgaria . Located in the Veliko Tarnovo region , the administrative center of the community of Gorna-Oryahovitsa . The population of the city is 32,436 inhabitants (for 2010) [1] .

History
Traces of human presence in the area of the city are noted from the second half of the 5th century BC. er In the area between the Kamak Hill and the Arbanasi Plateau, remains of a late Thracian settlement were found. Its inhabitants belonged to the Krobizi tribe. They built the fortress of Kamak, which existed from the 5th to the 1st century BC. Oe., when on its ruins the Romans built their own fortified settlement. It gradually gained economic power, mainly due to the cultivation of grapes and the production of wine. The life of the settlement lasted until the arrival of the Slavs in the VI-VII century. There is no material evidence of settled life in this place from VII to XII century.
By the Sultan's decree ( firmman ), from 1538, the city received a privileged status and began to develop rapidly as a center of trade and commercial activity.
The first school in the city was opened in 1822.
During the preparation of the April Uprising of 1876, the city became the center of the second revolutionary district. During the uprising, the city was saved from arson by Turkish gangs thanks to Elena Grancharova .
During the Russo-Turkish War of 1877–1878 , 5,000 inhabitants lived in the city. The first mayor of the city was Radko Radoslavov . In 1895 the first hospital was opened in the city. In 1899 the railway station was built. The largest sugar factory of the Balkan Peninsula was established here in 1912 with Czech capital. In 1925, an airfield was created near the city, which is still in use today. On March 29, 1925, the International International Fair in Bulgaria was held in the city.

- Professional School of Electrical Engineering and Electronics "Mikhail Lomonosov" - established in 1959 by Marko Iliev. At first, the educational process was carried out in the building of the Georgi Izmirliev gymnasium. The school’s national anthem was created by the Bulgarian language teacher Yordan Yordanov. The main directions in the school were: Radio and television equipment, Electric machines and apparatus. Construction of the new school building began in 1960 and was completed in 1965. Mikhail Vasilyevich Lomonosov was chosen as the patron of the school. After 1963 the school is called “Technical College of Electrical Engineering„ M. V. Lomonosov "". In 1982, the school became a member of UNESCO . In 2000, the school received the current name.
