Located in the Burgas region , included in the community of Pomorie . The population is 2112 people. The name from the river Aheloy ( Greek Αχελώος ), until 2009 - the village; until 1960, the village was called Chimovo , and before 1934 it was called Chimos .
Content
Geographical position
The city is located 10-15 minutes walk from the coast. The city is separated from the coast by two highways. One of them takes place in close proximity to the city. The other is along the coast. At the entrance to the city is a gas station Lukoil. Lukoil owns on the territory of Bulgaria a whole network of gas stations, as well as an oil refinery complex in Burgas.
Modern development and construction
On the territory of the city for a long time housed a pig farm, which seriously polluted the ecology of the city. In 2008, the pig farm was closed.
A large hotel complex is being built on the coast of Aheloy. The first of the complexes received the name Aheloy Palace, the second Aheloy River, the third Aheloy Beach Residence.
Political situation
Aheloy, which includes Aheloy, is a local kkomstvo, the post of kmet (headman) is performed by Ivan Georgiev Georgiev (political club Thrace) as a result of the election.
