Minerva (magazine)

Minerva is a monthly journal of “Russian and foreign literature”, published in Moscow in 1806–1807 by professors of the Moscow University Pobedonostsev and Sokhatsky [1] . He had no definite character; the accusations of Napoleon and the French revolutionaries must be attributed to the spirit of the times; along with them, the journal was overflowing with translations of articles of encyclopedists. The poems of I. M. Aristov, V. I. Levshin, Prince N. M. Kugushev , M. I. Nevzorov , Efim Smagin and others were placed in Minerva; Siberian novels and ethnographic notes by N. Mamyshev; excerpts from works Plavilshchikova ; Translations of Princess N. Shakhovskoy, Nick. Lazhechnikova et al.

A total of 6 parts of the journal were published (3 per year), printed at the University Printing House. Went out weekly:

  • Part 2, No. 18-35: May-August. - 1806. - 286, [2]
  • Part 3, No. 36-52: September-December. - 1806. - 272 seconds.
  • Part 4, No. 1-17: January-April. - 1807. - 272 s.
  • Part 5, No. 18-35: May-August. - 1807. - 287, [1] p.
  • Part 6, No. 36-52: September-December. - 1807. - 272 s.

Translations were placed in the journal: Voltaire thoughts // Minerva. 1807, April; Correspondence of Voltaire and Rousseau // Minerva. 1807, June, September.

  1. ↑ Previously, they also issued the “ News of Russian Literature ” (1802-1805) as an appendix to Moscow News | Moscow Vedomosti.
