History
The musical group was founded in 1994 in Germany , in the city of Bielefeld by guitarist and vocalist Marco Hoibaum . After the collapse in 1997, the new staff continued to exist only since 2000 . The music of that time combines elements of symphonic rock and symphonic metal with light electronic elements.
After several demo versions and success on various MP3 portals, in 2003 they released the first album called “ Kill the Sun ” , which reached 98th place in the German music charts. The album Ravenheart that followed it lasted 7 weeks on the charts and reached 36th place. In 2005 they released their third album “ India ” , the sound of which is oriented towards the symphonic metal. On December 14, 2006, the band began recording their fourth album , Salomé - The Seventh Veil , which was released on May 25, 2007.
On April 30, 2008, Lisa Middelhaufe left the team, citing personal reasons and discomfort as the leader of the group. In February 2009, it was announced that Kerstin Bischof (ex-Laconia) was the new singer of Xandria. However, having stayed in the group for a year, Kerstin decided to leave the team.
On December 7, 2010, the group posted the following message:
“We have found a new vocalist, but for the time being we will keep the name secret. The search was long, but it was worth it! She's the one we were looking for! We will present it on December 20 on our official website, and now we will continue to work on it with the album, so we hope to go to the studio to record it in the new year as soon as possible. ”
On December 20, the band presented a new vocalist. She was Manuela Kraller , who previously worked with the Haggard group [2] .
In February of the same year, the album Neverworld's End was released , which received positive ratings from critics. At this time, the group again changed the sound: this time the style of the released album was symphonic - power metal .
On July 17, 2012, it was announced on the band’s official Facebook page that bassist Niels Middelhaufe had left the band. The musician left the band, like Liza, for personal reasons. Xandria began to search for a worthy replacement [3] , and they were crowned with success: on February 5, 2013, the band announced that 32-year-old Steven Wussow was the new bass player.
“We are very glad that we have found the one we’ve been looking for during the months of auditions and are very pleased that we will continue our work on recordings and performances with Steven . ”
On October 25, 2013, the group announced on its official website that Manuela had left the group, as "she decided to continue her musical journey in a different setting, to try other genres." The 28-year-old Diana van Girsbergen from the Netherlands , who previously worked with the Netherlands group Ex Libris (Diana will continue to work in both groups), became a new vocalist of the group. In 2014, the album Sacrificium , the style coincides with the previous album of the group. A year later, the mini-album Fire & Ashes was released, which included three new songs, two covers and two re-recorded with Diana's vocals and a new arrangement of the song.
The band began 2017 with the release of the new album Theater of Dimensions, for which promotion a tour of Tour of Dimensions was announced, as well as the first headline tour of North America. But soon the band canceled several concerts, including performances in the United States and Russia with the promise to return a little later. At the same time, an announcement was published that Diana would not be able to perform with the group for some time, so the next concerts of the tour will be played with Eva Morell from the group Aeverium [5] . A day later, on her Facebook page, Diana published a post announcing her departure from the group.
