Along with conductor Gustavo Dudamel, he is considered [1] to be the most successful and outstanding graduate of the Venezuelan branching system of music education (El Sistema), whose creator José Antonio Abreu was awarded the Glenn Gould Prize in 2008 for his outstanding contribution to the development of music.
He began to study in Caracas with Felix Petit, played in the National Youth Orchestra, at the age of 14 he became a member of the top brainchild of the System - the Venezuelan Youth Orchestra named after Simon Bolivar . In 2001 , he won the first prize in the youth category in the competition of the International Double Bass Association. At the invitation of Simon Rattle, the Youth Orchestra conducted in Venezuela, entered the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra in 2003 , becoming the youngest musician in its composition; at the same time, Ruiz perfected his skills at the orchestra academy under the leadership of his first double bass, Klaus Stoll . As a soloist, Ruiz was the first performer of the Concerto for double bass and orchestra of the Venezuelan composer Paul Desenne ( 2006 ) [2] , as well as the compositions of György Kurtag , Heinz Holliger and others.
