Kirkovo ( Bulgarian. Community of Kirkovo ) is a community in Bulgaria . It is part of the Kardzhali region . The population of the community on December 15, 2008 was estimated at 22,988 people, and in the largest community of the community - the village of Benkovski , 2105 people lived at that time [2] .

The administrative center is the village of Kirkovo (718 residents, as of December 15, 2008 [2] ).
In the community there are deposits of chrome ores (near the villages of Yakovitsa and Kosturino), tin-zinc ores (Shumnatitsa, Chakalarovo, Jerovo), iron ores (Yakovitsa), non-metallic minerals: asbestos , granite , marble .
Trans-European corridor No. 9 passes from Kirkovo from Northern Europe to Greece. The opening of the Makaz checkpoint on the Bulgarian-Greek border is scheduled for 2010 .
