Gulantsi ( Bulgarian. Gulantsi Community ) is a community in Bulgaria . It is part of the Pleven region . The population is 13,891 people (as of January 15, 2010) [1] .

Geographical position
The Gulyantsi community is located in the central part of the Lower Danube Plain , in the central part of the north of the region. The relief of the community is characterized by altitudes from 30 to 60 m [2] . The northern border of the region is the state border of Bulgaria with Romania, which runs along the Danube River . It borders with the communities of the Pleven region: in the west and south-west with the community of Dolna-Metropolis , in the east with the community of Nikopol , in the south with the community of Pleven . The community area is 458 km² [3] .
A number of rivers of the right-bank part of the Danube basin flow through the community - the largest of them are the Vit River and the Iskar River [2] .
Climate
The Gulyantsi community is located in a temperate continental climate characterized by relatively hot summers and cold winters [2] .
History
The administrative center of the community - Gulyantsi, arose on the site of an ancient settlement that existed on the left bank of the Vit River, which the Thracians called Utus. The Turks called the village of Gyulyan (from rose , Tur. Gül ), later the name was transformed in Gyulyand, then Gyulyantsi, and later acquired the current sound of Gulyantsi. September 4, 1974, Decree No. 1942 of the State Council of the People's Republic of Bulgaria Gulantsi declared a city. Then, in 1974, Gulyantsi became the center of a small community, which also included the villages of Lenkovo , Shiyakovo , Kreta and Dybovan . Since December 5, 1977, a new rural system has been singled out of 9 settlements: Gigen , Brest , Dybovan , Zagrazen , Milkovitsa , Lenkovo , Dolni-Vit , Somovit and Gulyantsi, and three authorities: Iskar , Kreta and Shiyakovo , and in accordance with the Decree of the State Council number 2295 from 12.26.1978, the city of Gulyantsi became the administrative center of the community of Gulyantsi , including 12 property [4] .

The community consists of 12 settlements - 1 city : Gulantsi and 11 villages [3] :

Demographics
As of December 31, 2008, 13 925 residents lived in the community, including [5] :
- men - 6754 people.
- women - 7171 people.
- urban population - 3469 people, of which:
- men - 1670 people.
- women - 1799 people.
- rural population - 10,456 people, of which:
- men - 5084 people.
- women - 5372 people.
Mortality among the population of the community prevails over the birth rate , the natural population growth is negative, the decline in 2008 was 290 people (men - 168 people, women - 122 people) [6] . Due to internal and external migration, the total population of the community decreased by 79 people. (men for 28 people, women for 51 people) [7] .
Political Situation
Kmet (mayor) of the Gulyantsi community - Luchezar Petkov Yakov ( Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) ) based on the results of the 2007 elections [8] . Former community bastards:
- according to the results of the 1995 elections - Licho Tonchev (from the coalition of parties the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) , the agricultural union of Alexander the Stamboliysky , the political club “Ecoglasnost” );
- Violin Ivanov, according to the results of the 1999 elections (from the group “The Future of the Gulyantsi Community”) and 2003 (from the coalition of the UDF parties ).
The chairman of the community council is Emilia Vladimirova Petrusheva [9] .
Transport
The Jasen - Cherkovitsa railway line from the Varna - Pleven line runs through the community. In the community there are two railway stations in the villages of Milkovitsa and Somovit, as well as two stopping points in the villages of Kreta and Dolni Vit. In the village of Somovit, located on the banks of the Danube, the only freight railway station in the community [10] and the marina on the Danube [11] .
