History

In German time there was no single street coinciding with the current Moscow Avenue. Moscow Avenue corresponded to the sequence of the following streets (in the west-east direction): Oberlaak-strasse, Unterlaak-strasse (approximately to the Flyover Bridge), Altstadt-Lang-strasse (section from the Flyover Bridge to Oktyabrskaya St.), Luther-Kirchen-strasse, Sackheim-strasse (to the Zacchaim Gate), Tapiauer-strasse (from the Zackheim Gate further to the city border).

The 1910 map shows a tram line running along the highway of the current Moskovsky Prospect on the section from Unterlaak to the Zacheim Gate . On the map of 1940 it is indicated that tram routes No. 9 and 10 went along this line (in the modern tram network they do not correspond). Further, from the Zacchaim Gate to the city border, there was a bus route “E”.

Transport

Trams on Moscow Avenue

Almost the entire length of the avenue, a trolleybus line runs along routes No. 2, 7; bus number 2. On the short section of the avenue between the intersection with Oktyabrskaya street and the second flyover bridge there is a tram line served by routes No. 5.

A single-track service tram line without passenger traffic ran from Oktyabrskaya Street to the beginning of the avenue (and further to the car repair workshops). In November 2008, it ceased to exist in connection with the liquidation of car repair shops.
