Already at an advanced age he defended Lutetia (future Paris) from the army of Labien , the Roman governor of Gaul in the era of Julius Caesar , and died in 52 BC. e. in a battle outside the walls of Lutetia on the left bank of the Seine (approximately in the Vaugirard region of modern Paris).
Two Thousand Years Later
- It is mentioned in Victor Hugo’s novel “ Notre Dame de Paris ”: “ ... That part of the City in the east, which is now also called the“ Swamp ”(in memory of the swamp where Caesar was lured into) ... ”
- In the 15th arrondissement of Paris there is Camulogen street ( French rue Camulogène ).
