Vancouver Island Wolf ( lat. Canis lupus crassodon ) - one of the subspecies of the gray wolf ( Canis lupus ). Endemic to Vancouver Island . Color is gray or black. These animals lead a social lifestyle, live in flocks numbering from 5 to 35 individuals. The food is based on black-tailed deer ( Odocoileus columbianus ) and Roosevelt deer ( Cervus elaphus roosevelti ) [1] .

Vancouver wolves are very shy in nature, rarely found in humans. Endangered [2] . In Pacific Rome National Park, they attack unprotected domestic dogs [3] . The Vancouver Zoo contains two Vancouver island wolves, one of them white and the other gray [4] .
