Norm (rule)

Norma (from the Latin. Norma - literally "nahogolnik", figurative meaning - the governing principle, rule , pattern ) - a rule or order , acting in a certain field and requiring its implementation.

Norms are not based on experience, but a priori are subjectively defined requirements. [1] [2]

At the same time, the norm is an exact prescription or an obligatory rule of behavior in a particular situation. [1] [3] [4] [5] [6] The norm established as a statutory regulation accepts a recognized mandatory procedure. [3] [4]

Norm Examples

  • Social norm - the rules of behavior historically prevailing in society.
  • Legal norm - a rule of conduct enshrined in the law, the implementation of which is ensured by the power of the state.
  • Sexual norm - prescriptions of sexual behavior characteristic of these cultural and historical conditions.
  • Mononorm is a norm that combines the rule of behavior of a social, religious and legal nature.
  • Technical norm - a set of rules governing the use of technical means, the rules of operation of technical means.
  • A language norm is a historically determined set of commonly used language means, as well as the rules for their selection and use, recognized by society as the most suitable in a particular historical period.
