Masonry - a building structure consisting of stones , bricks laid next to each other in a certain order and connected by a mortar [1] . The masonry perceives its own gravity , other structural elements based on the masonry, and the loads applied to them, and also performs heat-insulating, sound-proofing, and other functions.
In the construction of buildings and structures, the following types of masonry are used: [2]
- Brick
- Made of ceramic stones
- From artificial large blocks made of concrete , brick or ceramic stones
- Of natural stones of the correct form (sawn or carved)
- A rubble made of irregularly shaped natural uncut stones
- Half-foot
- Concrete
- Mixed
Masonry is performed on calcareous , mixed cement-calcareous and cement mortars, as well as on cement-clay mortars, in which clay acts as a plasticizing agent.
The main masonry tool is a trowel .
