Career
He began performing on stage from the age of eighteen and in a short time gained fame even outside Italy . In 1892, Maggi performed with great success in St. Petersburg at the Maly Theater and other cities of Russia . Often played alongside Rossi and Salvini , without losing the comparison with them.
His best roles are Hamlet , Keene (“Kin, or Genius and Disbelief,” Dumas play), Othello (this role was inferior to him in his troupe Salvini, who played Iago ), Red Count (in the play with the same name, written for him by the Italian playwright Giakoz ). His repertoire included The Death of Ivan the Terrible by A. Tolstoy and Pushkin ’s The Stone Guest .
