SAP NetWeaver is SAP’s replicated middleware that has become the technical foundation for all SAP Business Suite applications. SAP NetWeaver is positioned for the consumer as a service-oriented integration platform . SAP NetWeaver provides the ability to deploy and execute various SAP applications. In addition, the platform can be used as a technological base for the integration and implementation of third-party systems and applications. SAP NetWeaver is built on top of open specifications and industry standards de facto and can be expanded by using .NET and Java EE technologies.
The SAP NetWeaver platform implements the strategy of a single integrated system that combines technology and software, the manufacturer calls this approach “applistructure” (applications + infrastructure).

History
In January 2003, SAP announced the first release of NetWeaver, called NetWeaver 2004, and released the product on March 31, 2004 . NetWeaver 7.0, also known as NetWeaver 2004s, was released on October 24, 2005 .
Composition
The central product of the NetWeaver platform is the SAP Web Application Server (sometimes referred to as “WebAS”), all the applications included in the mySAP business solutions package , for example SRM , CRM , SCM , PLM , ERP , are executed within the framework of SAP WebAS.
