Location
Located on the left bank of the Ishim River opposite the confluence of the Staritsa River in it. It is located at the intersection of 3 roads connecting the district with other district centers: the city of Ishim , the village of Abatskoye , the village of Ust-Ishim (Omsk Region) and one road leading to the Ozerninsky rural settlement .
On the right bank of the Ishim River, downstream of Vikulovaya Sloboda, the fortress (ostrog) Orlovo fort was located earlier, built in 1691 [6] , part of the Siberian fortification line .
In the future, the fortress (prison) was abandoned as unnecessary, and the people who lived with it moved to Vikulovo and other places. The sources cite the year 1787 as the date of the final liquidation of the settlement at the Orlovo fort of the ancient city [7] .
History
The first mention of Vikulovaya settlement refers to 1698, the settlement is marked on the map of S. U. Remezov , dated 1698 [8] .
In 1782, it became the volost center of the educated Vikulovskaya volost of Tarsky district .
In the 1780s, one of the first fairs in the Tarsky district was opened in the suburb (later at different times 4 fairs and 1 market functioned in the village at different times, more were only in the city of Tara ).
On July 10, 1790, A. N. Radishchev passed through the settlement, who wrote down:
... There are many villages in the Barsuku River. Vikulova sits on a beautiful place on Ishim and the bay. The land is black. Merchants live in this settlement. Guys are lively. According to Ishim, the land is black earth ...

On March 28, 1797, Radishchev returned from exile and wrote down about the settlement:
From this river they move to Ishim, where in the summer they are transported under the village of Vorobyovo [Orlovo] Gorodishche or Vikulova, 21 versts; We arrived in this village on Palm Sunday. There is always a stop in the horses. The men were drunk, many horses were harnessed, and the front ones left, and the runs were taken forward. The driver with diplomas in shirovary boasts of his capital ...

On August 11, 1803, the village and the parish entered the educated Slobodchikovo commissar of the Tarsk district.
In the years 1860-1865 During the spring floods, the Ishim River finally severed the volost center into two unequal parts of the “countryside” and a small settlement on Shangin Hill. Subsequently, after 10-20 years, the residents of the settlement completely moved to the main part of the village.
In June 1895, the Governor of Tobolsk Province N. M. Bogdanovich visited the village on a working visit with an audit, who noted:
The village of Vikulovo. The parish is in order, in one case there is no window leaf. Bread shops are very good, the bread is clean and fresh. The building of the rural ministerial school is bad: low, small for 35-40 students cannot be considered suitable. Vikulovskaya parish should have taken care of a better school in the near future, especially since the teacher teaching now in Vikulov is undoubtedly useful to the population, children respond sensibly, reasonably, they write not badly, 7 people graduated from the course now.
From a comparison of the perceived information and personal reports of a citizen of a peasant official in Section II of Neudachin, a forester of Yaronovetsky and Tara police officer, it can be concluded that the extremely varied IV Tara peasant section requires, first of all, detailed local research, and especially measures to clarify the situation of the former and new resettlement settlements and settlement land relations of their inhabitants and the surrounding old-timers. Therefore, other, albeit extremely new, improvements such as the establishment of a hospital and a warehouse of agricultural implements in Vikulov (especially according to the statement of a citizen of an official need threshing machines here) can be introduced immediately only insofar as they would not interfere with the main task of settling peasant land tenure. .
In 1898, the nobleman Bestuzhev , a peasant affairs official in Tarsk district, attempted to transform the village of Vikulovskoye into a city [9] .
At the beginning of the twentieth century, the main educational institutions in the village were the Christian Orthodox Church and elementary schools [10] .
By 1917, the Vikulovskaya single-class mixed parochial school and Vikulovskoye Romanovskoye four-class folk village school functioned in the village.
In the years 1921-1922, the village was one of the centers of the anti-Bolshevik West-Siberian uprising .
On November 3, 1923, the village became the center of the Vikulovsky district of the Ishim district of the Ural region.
