History
The name "Amderma-2" was given to the airfield in the Soviet period in order to comply with the regime of secrecy (in fact, from Rogachevo to the village of Amderma about 400 km).
Since 1972, the 641st Guards Vilensky Order of Kutuzov, 3rd class, fighter aviation regiment was based at the airport [4] . From 1964 to 1988, the regiment was armed with fighter-interceptors Yak-28P [5] , since 1987 re-equipment began on new Su-27 fighters . [6] [7] In 1993, the regiment was relocated to Afrikinda airfield, where it was combined with the 431st IAP. On their basis, on September 1, 1993, the 470th Guards Vilensky Order of Kutuzov Fighter Aviation Regiment was formed .
