The origins of the party date back to 1978, when the Brazilian Trotskyist Trend organization ( port Tendência Trotskista do Brasil , TTB) was formed. In 1980, TTB joined the Workers Party . In fact, the Workers 'Party was formed in 1995, after some members of the Workers' Party left it in 1990-1991 due to political differences. The PDD adheres to the Trotskyist orientation. As of 2016, the party had no representatives in the Brazilian National Congress.
